I’m all for fall. The leaves and the weather will turn, yes, but there’s a big reason to look forward to autumn: fashion. This time of year, every boutique is filled with fresh looks and we’ll be going through a few of our favourites during our weekend trend presentations in the Love It or Lose It Lounge.

First up: transitional looks that let you breeze through the end of summer. Each has a hint of the luxe romance we’re seeing a lot of right now – brocade, lace, and warm colours. And we’ve found plenty of occasions to wear them.

Work it. Start with a dress in a classic shape and unique texture, like this rosette lace number from Banana Republic. Then layer a light leather-trimmed trench capelet (also from Banana Republic), which won’t bulk you up when the skies open up.

Max out. Throw a sweater or cardigan over a maxi dress and wear it as a skirt (the one in the first picture is from Old Navy).

Bare arms. Rock a sleeveless printed pantsuit at night (the navy version in the first picture is from H&M, though we’ve added a jacket).

Warm up. Wear warm colours on a sunny day and you’ll fit right in with the sunshine (the raspberry and coral outfit in the first photo is from Gap). Wear them on a grey day and they might just lift your mood.

Pack it in. Whether or not your back-to-school days are behind you, September always feels like the start of a new year. Make like a student of fashion and carry a backpack (this one’s from Plenty) in place of a purse.

Now we’re ready to ring in fashion’s new year.

Join us for our Fall Fashion Trend Presentations in the Love It or Lose It Lounge at1:00, 3:00 and 5:00 on Saturdays and Sundays until September 9th.
