Community
Metropolis at Metrotown endeavours to be a good neighbour and is committed to enhancing the lives of the people we serve. Each year Metropolis at Metrotown donates nearly $1-million to charities through cash and in-kind donations to serve the evolving needs of our local communities.
We are now asking registered non-profit organizations to apply for cash donations made possible by the Metropolis Express, a trackless train that runs through the corridors of Metropolis.
Please review Metropolis' community investment criteria, to ensure your registered non-profit organization meets our requirements for funding and allows us to better direct the funds to organizations that will benefit the most from the support.
Although we encourage you to apply for the funds, we receive far more requests than we are able to fulfill and therefore we make decisions based on the application form and also take into consideration the effect the money would have on the group.
Criteria:
- 1. Must be Burnaby based and demonstrate a significant and unique contribution to community life.
- 2. Must be "grassroots" i.e. the money would make a significant difference in their operations.
- 3. Must not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, creed, religion and sexual orientation.
- 4. Must be a registered non-profit organization.
- 5. Must have defined goals and objectives.
Organizations and projects that are ineligible for these funds are:
- 1. Religious or political organizations
- 2. Individuals
- 3. For profit organizations
- 4. Endowments
- 5. Debt-reduction campaigns
Note to schools: If your school has a specific initiative that requires funding, please Artie Chumpol at 604.438.4700 to discuss.
