The Good Food Collective: Supporting Local Families
Metropolis at Metrotown is proud to continue The Good Food Collective, now entering its second year of supporting families in need across Burnaby.
Following the success of last year’s initiative, we’re once again partnering with Burnaby Neighbourhood House to provide nutritious, culturally appropriate food and essential items to local families.
This year, we’re expanding the initiative beyond food donations. Essential baby supplies will also be welcomed, helping families with young children access items they need for everyday life.
Food Collection Dates
Thursday, September 24 to Saturday, September 26
10 AM – 7 PM
During the collection period, we welcome donations from tenants, shoppers, staff and the broader community.
Additionally, those who would like to contribute early can drop off donations at Guest Services beginning in early September.
Your Support Makes a Difference
Whether you choose to make a monetary contribution, donate non-perishable food or provide essential baby supplies, your generosity can make a meaningful difference for local families.
Furthermore, monetary donations allow Burnaby Neighbourhood House to respond more flexibly to the community’s most urgent needs. This means donations can be directed where they can have the greatest impact.
Why Monetary Donations Matter
While food donations are always appreciated, monetary contributions provide Burnaby Neighbourhood House with greater flexibility and purchasing power.
For example, monetary donations can help:
- Provide essential goods through bulk purchasing and wholesale pricing.
- Purchase fresh and perishable foods, including produce, dairy and proteins, that are less commonly received through traditional food drives.
- Address culturally appropriate and dietary-specific needs, including halal, vegan and gluten-free options.
- Support essential community programs and services, including childcare, housing support and newcomer assistance.
Ways to Donate
There are several ways to support The Good Food Collective.
Make a Monetary Donation
Businesses and community members can make monetary donations directly to Burnaby Neighbourhood House.
In addition, monetary donations can be made via POS at the event during the food collection dates.
Donate Food and Baby Essentials
Prefer to make an in-kind donation? You can contribute non-perishable food items and essential baby supplies during the collection period.
Advance donations are also welcome at Guest Services beginning in early September.
